League of Legends MSI 2025: Team-by-Team Preview

The League of Legends MSI 2025 begins June 27 in Vancouver. Let’s break down every region's representative teams ahead of the tournament.

Tournament Information

The Mid-Season Invitational (MSI 2025) will feature 10 teams from the five major regions. The Play-In Stage runs from June 27-29, after which the top 8 teams will compete in a double-elimination Bracket Stage from July 1-12.

LCK (Korea)

Gen.G (+116*)

Gen.G are the defending champions from MSI 2024, but with a key difference: a revamped bot lane duo compared to last year’s title-winning roster. This new-look squad has been nothing short of dominant, completing an incredible 18-0 sweep through Rounds 1 and 2 of the 2025 LCK season. At the heart of their success is mid laner Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon, whose all-around stats have cemented Gen.G as the overwhelming favorites to win MSI 2025. With this blend of strategic roster evolution and individual brilliance, they stand as the team to beat in Vancouver.

T1 (+234*)

T1 finished the LCK 2025 Season Rounds 1–2 in 3rd place, but in the Road to MSI, they upset Hanwha Life Esports (HLE), the LCK Cup and First Stand 2025 champion, with a clean 3-0 sweep. Top laner Choi "Doran" Hyeon-jun's standout performance in that series proved that he could be a key carry for the team, changing many people's perception of him.

LPL (China)

Anyone's Legend (+388*)

The LPL Split 2 champion silenced many critics by defeating Bilibili Gaming (BLG) twice in the double elimination Knockout Stage, securing an undisputed title. This team boasts the most diverse champion pool in the LPL. Mid laner Cui "Shanks" Xiaojun, for instance, used 12 different champions during the 2025 season. He's also considered the most well-rounded mid laner in the league, leading in CSM, GPM, KP%, DMG%, and DPM, earning him the nickname “LPL’s Chovy.”

Bilibili Gaming (+569*)

Similar to T1, BLG had a rough start in Split 2, finishing the first round of the Rumble Stage with a 4-5 record. However, after jungler Yang "Beichuan" Ling joined the team in May, BLG transformed into a different beast, going 8-1 in the second round. During the Knockout Stage, they defeated teams like Invictus Gaming and Top Esports (TES), who had finished first in the Split 2 Rumble Stage, ultimately securing their MSI spot.

LEC (Europe)

Movistar KOI (+3886*)

Movistar KOI (KOI) signed Canadian mid laner Joseph "Jojopyun" Pyun just before the 2025 LEC season. In the LEC Spring Playoffs, they lost to G2 Esports but bounced back by defeating Karmine Corp (KC), the LEC Winter Champion, in the lower bracket. KOI then completed their revenge against G2 in the Grand Finals to claim the LEC Spring Championship.

G2 Esports (+2599*)

G2 only finished in fourth place during the regular season, but then defeated second-place Fnatic and KOI in the upper bracket to secure a spot at MSI 2025. However, they lost to KOI in the Grand Final and ended up as the LEC's 2nd seed, meaning they will have to start their MSI journey from the Play-In stage.

LTA North (North America)

FlyQuest (+4512*)

FlyQuest didn’t make major changes to its roster for the 2025 season. This lineup pushed Gen.G to a Game 5 in last year’s Worlds quarterfinals. In the LTA North Playoffs, they defeated Cloud9 twice in a hard-fought double elimination run. Both series ended 3-2 and they were crowned the LTA North Split 2 champions. They will be the region’s sole representative at MSI 2025.

LTA South (South America)

FURIA (+9376*)

The Brazilian team completed their revenge against paiN Gaming in the LTA South Grand Final, securing the region’s only spot at MSI 2025. They enter the tournament tied with GAM Esports as the biggest underdogs among all participating teams.

LCP (Pacific region)

CTBC Flying Oyster (+5762*)

CTBC Flying Oyster (CFO) is the only team that participated in First Stand 2025 and also qualified for MSI 2025, showcasing their consistency by staying at the top of the league from season kickoff to mid-season. They are the champions of both splits. CFO also has a track record of upsetting top teams from other regions, including TES from the LPL and KC from the LEC.

GAM Esports (+9376*)

GAM Esports, the representative from Vietnam, finished fourth in the regular season but made a strong lower bracket run in the playoffs, defeating Secret Whales and TALON to secure the second seed in the LCP for MSI 2025.
