BIG are still coming off the back of their DreamHack Masters Spring win, and re-securing qualification to the next ESL Pro League season. The first set of 9th place decider matches will be an Iberian face off, as G2 take on Movistar Riders. G2 finished third after being eliminated by Fnatic in the decider match, while Movistar Riders were eliminated from the main tournament by North. The two teams have played just once so far in 2020, where G2 came out as 2-0 winners in the Road to Rio.

The other 9th place decider match will be between ENCE and FaZe. ENCE fell out of the running after losing to Heroic in the elimination match, while FaZe suffered defeat to BIG in their group to be sent to the decider bracket. Gen.G and Evil Geniuses make up the other side of the bracket. Evil Geniuses have had a resurgence in form during this Ranking event, finishing atop Group A having only lost one map to FURIA, before taking a clean sweep over Liquid. Gen.G finished second in their group, coming back from losing in the first round to Cloud9 to beat Chaos and take the decider over Cloud9. Gen.G and EG have played each other three times in 2020, where EG clean won the most recent matchup despite losing the previous two.
