At Pinnacle we like to stay ahead of the game and we are excited to announce the early release of this year's World Chess Championship odds before any of our competitors.

The Norwegian prodigy and reigning world champion Magnus Carlsen faces a new challenger to his throne in Sergey Karjakin, this year's Candidates Tournament winner.

The 12 game match is planned to take place between 11–30 November in New York City 2016, with the two contestants competing for a prize fund of at least 1 million euros ($1.1m USD).

Taking into consideration each player's odds to win - Magnus Carlsen (1.307), Sergey Karjakin (3.650) - the implied probability of Carlsen retaining his title is 73.6%, giving his Ukranian opponent Karjakin just a 26.4% chance of victory.
