With the Europa League group stage starting on Thursday, here’s a closer look at three of the opening encounters.
Ajax vs. Marseille predictions
Ajax have endured a poor start to the season, and things won’t get any easier for the Dutch giants as they prepare to host Marseille in Amsterdam.
Head coach Maurice Steijn already finds himself under growing pressure with Ajax in 12th place in the Eredivisie table, having taken just five points from their first four games.
A 3-1 defeat at FC Twente on Sunday shows where this Ajax side are at right now, and Marseille will be eager to pile more pressure on them this week.
Marseille have not been in particularly flying form themselves, but are still in third place in Ligue 1 with two wins and three draws in their five league games so far.
With the likes of Vitinha, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Ismaïla Sarr in attack, Marseille should cause Ajax plenty of problems, and the visitors are at 2.660* to secure a win in Amsterdam.
Brighton and Hove Albion vs. AEK Athens predictions
Brighton have enjoyed a strong start to their Premier League campaign, and are in free-scoring form as they prepare to host AEK Athens on Thursday.
Despite some high-profile summer departures, head coach Roberto De Zerbi has the Seagulls firing on all cylinders with four wins from their first five games.
Scoring 15 goals in that five-game spell, Brighton have scored the most goals so far in the Premier League, and even frontrunners and reigning English champions Manchester City are behind them on 14.
Over 3.5 goals have been scored in all five of Brighton’s games this season, while AEK are yet to keep a clean sheet this term in any competition.
With that in mind, Over 3.5 Goals on the night is available at 2.480*, and is certainly worth considering.
Rangers vs. Real Betis predictions
Rangers have endured a mixed start to the season in Scotland, and face a tough test when they welcome Real Betis to Glasgow.
The Gers fell well short of reaching the Champions League group stages after a 5-1 second-leg defeat to PSV Eindhoven in qualifying, and they face a Betis side that have travelled well in the Europa League.
Betis have won four of their last six away games in this competition, which includes victories at Zenit Saint Petersburg and AS Roma.
The LaLiga outfit might well be able to take advantage of Rangers’ stuttering start to the season, and are well priced at 2.680* to come away from Ibrox with all three points.
