Latest World Cup 2022 odds

Group G features one South American team, one African team, and two European teams, with Brazil, Cameroon, Switzerland, and Serbia drawn together.

Five-time World Cup winners Brazil are the strong favourites to progress to the knockout stage, but both Serbia and Switzerland were unbeaten in qualification while Cameroon are preparing for their eighth World Cup tournament.

Odds for Group G

Brazil are as short as 1.349 (-287)* to win the group, with Switzerland available to back at 7.090 (+609)* to finish top.

Serbia, playing in their second consecutive World Cup, can be backed 7.090 (+609)* to win the group and 2.110 (+111)* to qualify for the round of 16.

Cameroon are the outsiders, with Rigobert Song’s men 6.220 (+522)* to advance to the knockout stage, while they are 1.581 (-172)* to finish bottom of Group G.

Key players in Group G

The attacking threat of Brazil is much of the reason as to why A Seleção are currently top of the FIFA rankings and why they are amongst the tournament favourites.

Brazil is a team full of stars

Neymar is the star that normally gets all the attention, but the likes of Vinícius Júnior, Richarlison, and Raphinha have been impressive at club level with Real Madrid, Tottenham, and Barcelona respectively.

Serbia have their own attacking threat in the shape of Dušan Vlahović and Aleksandar Mitrović, whilst captain Dušan Tadić will be asked to create the opportunities.

Two European-based forwards will provide the goal threat for Cameroon, with Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting of Bayern Munich likely to pose a threat.

Switzerland have built their recent success on a solid defensive line, conceding just two goals in their eight qualifying games in a group that also included Italy. Torino’s Ricardo Rodriguez has made 100 appearances for his country and is expected to be part of the Swiss defence, while Fabian Schär has enjoyed a successful season in the Premier League with Newcastle United.

Predictions for Group G

It’s hard to see past Brazil as the group winners, with Tite having a squad that should be good enough to go far in the competition. At 1.507 (-197)* Brazil are likely to notch Over 6.5 points.

The FIFA rankings would suggest that Switzerland are the next best team and most likely to join Brazil in the round of 16, but Serbia look like a team on the up. In the Dual Forecast market at Pinnacle, Brazil and Switzerland are favourites to qualify for the round of 16 at odds of 2.360 (+136)*.

But Dragan Stojković, who played for Yugoslavia at the 1990 World Cup, has a squad that beat Portugal to the top spot in their qualifying group. And Cameroon should also not be underestimated, especially with a number of good players recently declaring their allegiance to the Indomitable Lions.
