AC Milan welcome Roma to the San Siro in what is sure to be an intriguing contest in the north of Italy.
After suffering defeat at the hands of Napoli last weekend, despite being 2-0 up with 30 minutes left, Milan will be desperate to register their first points of the season having played one game less then the rest of league due to a matchday one postponement.
Roma haven’t had the most convincing of starts after their opening two fixtures in Serie A, relying on a late Dzeko winner in matchday one and coming back from 3-1 down at home to Atalanta to draw 3-3 last weekend.
With both teams hoping for Champions League qualification this term, this fixture will be seen as a valuable opportunity to gain a mental boost by beating a league rival.
Milan vs Roma: Where is the value?
The value in this game may lie in the number of goals scored rather than the actual result of the match. The common misconception that the Serie A is a notoriously defensive league has been quashed in recent seasons and last weekend, the Serie A had the most goals scored across the top five European leagues (averaging 3.3 goals per game across the 10 fixtures).
Both AC Milan and Roma have shown defensive vulnerabilities so far but have also looked threatening going forward. If Milan do choose to bring in Laxalt and Caldara into the team, it would make their defence have an average age of just 22.4 years which could enable the vastly experienced striker Edin Dzeko to have a big impact on the match.
On the contrary, Roma’s backline has an average age of 29 and with both Kolarov and Fazio in their early thirties, the pace and trickery of Suso, Borini and Bonaventura combined with an eager Gonazlo Higuain (who is looking to open his scoring account with the Rossoneri) could open up the Roma backline. With odds of Over 2.5 and 3 at 2.030* currently on offer with Pinnacle, bettors would be wise to consider this market as a viable betting option.
