LaLiga: Rayo Vallecano vs. Real Madrid predictions

Rayo Vallecano

Real Madrid

Real Madrid remain top of the table following last weekend’s results, although Carlo Ancelotti’s men dropped points for only the second time this season as Girona snatched an unlikely 1-1 draw from the Bernabéu. It was a stuttering performance from the champions, who also saw Toni Kroos sent off for the first time in his career.

Los Blancos still lead the league by one point, but Barcelona are breathing down their necks and they will want to get back to winning ways against a Vallecano side that are enjoying a very strong period of form, having picked up eight points from their last four matches.

However, Real have an excellent record against Monday’s opponents, winning 16 of the last 17 meetings between the two teams. They also famously beat Vallecano 10-2 back in December 2015 with Karim Benzema netting a hat-trick in that win.

LaLiga: Barcelona vs. Almería predictions

A win for Barcelona on Saturday could temporarily send them top of the table as they seek to reclaim their LaLiga crown. While the Champions League has been a huge disappointment for La Blaugrana, Xavi’s men are undoubtedly making big progress in the league.

In particular, their defensive record has been first-class, with Barcelona conceding only four goals in 12 league games this season. With Robert Lewandowski firing in a dramatic late winner to beat Valencia 1-0 on Saturday, it appears they have found the right formula.

Almería are currently 13th in the table and have played strongly since their promotion last season, winning four out of their 12 matches so far.

However, they have failed to win back-to-back games this season and have struggled for form away from home, collecting just one point in six matches. It means that Barcelona should be confident of winning heading into this game, especially as they haven’t dropped points against Almería since 2010.

LaLiga: Atlético Madrid vs. Espanyol predictions

Atlético Madrid

Atlético Madrid are third in the table but only on goal difference following defeat at the weekend against the struggling Cadiz, who won for only the second time this season in a 3-2 success with a 99th minute goal.

That loss ended Atlético’s five-match unbeaten run and was their first defeat away from home this season.

Diego Simeone’s side have gained a reputation over the years for being solid and tough to break down, so it will concern the Argentine that they have only managed to keep four clean sheets in LaLiga this season.

They now face a home test against an Espanyol side whose own form has been poor recently. They have won only twice this season and just once in the last seven games.

Espanyol have only beaten Atlético once in the last six meetings between the two teams.
