Juventus vs. Napoli predicted line-ups

Juventus predicted line-up

4-3-3 – Szczesny (GK), Cancelo, Bonucci, Benatia, Alex Sandro, Pjanic, Can, Matuidi, Dybala, Bernardeschi, Ronaldo

After rotating the team during their midweek victory against Bologna, Juventus are expected to revert to the same settled 11 that has given them a perfect record in Serie A thus far. Mario Mandzukic and Rodrigo Bentacur will be pushing for a starting spot whilst Douglas Costa remains suspended.

Napoli predicted line-up

4-2-3-1 – Ospina (GK), Hysaj, Albiol, Koulibaly, Rui, Allan, Hamsik, Zielinski, Verdi, Insigne, Milik.

After successfully experimenting with a 4-4-2 system in Napoli’s previous two victories away to Torino and at home to Parma, the Partenopei are likely to switch to a more defensive 4-2-3-1 system away from home with captain Marek Hamsik expected to return and lead them out against Juventus. Ospina is locked in a battle for the no.1 spot with Karnezis whilst Mertens continues to rotate with Milik for the starting striker role.

Carlo Ancelotti has constantly rotated his side this season trying to find the perfect balance, so it would not be a surprise to see Callejon, Mertens, Diawara, Ruiz or Maksimovic to be in the starting line-up against Juventus instead.

Juventus have started the season in ominous form, winning all six of their domestic fixtures – their best start since 1930. They welcome a Napoli side who have also enjoyed a good start to the season with five wins from six and one loss (the 3-0 defeat away to Sampdoria).

This fixture is one of the fiercest derbies in Italian football which is made even more prominent by the fact the result could have direct title implications going forward for both sides.

A win for the The Old Lady would be a major set-back for Napoli to recover from this early in the season. However, if Napoli could come away with a draw or even snatch a victory like they did last season, the momentum and mental boost they would receive could propel them onto a very successful season.

That being said, last season’s dramatic 89th minute winner for Napoli away to Juventus in April (their first away win in Turin since 2012) was seen as a watershed moment in the title race, in which Napoli were expected to use the win as the launchpad to secure their first Scudetto since 1989/90.

Despite the incredible win, Napoli would go onto lose their following game and eventually concede the title to Juventus, so the impact of this fixture for either side may not be as crucial as once thought.

Despite all the rotation, Napoli have only lost one game in seven in all competitions.

Cristiano Ronaldo will be looking to leave his first significant mark in Serie A with a goal in a big match, however, he has failed to score against Napoli in three previous games against them and hasn’t started the season in prolific form.

Juventus vs. Napoli: Where is the Value?

With six wins in the last ten against Napoli, Juventus are currently priced as favourites to secure all three points whilst Napoli are backed as slight outsiders to repeat the feat they achieved last season in Turin and come away with the win.

This fixture is one of the fiercest derbies in Italian football which is made even more prominent by the fact the result could have direct title implications going forward for both sides.

Bettors would be wise to consider that there has only been one draw in the last ten meetings between the two sides, and with a stalemate priced quite modestly, value may well be found elsewhere.

Neither side has been that prolific in front of goal, with Juventus hitting 13 in six games and Napoli closely following with 12 in six. What’s more is that both sides have had solid defensive record domestically with a less than 1 xGA so far.

Given the magnitude of the game, both sides will be reluctant to push forward in fear of conceding which could result in a tight, calculated match.

These statistics point towards to a low goal scoring encounter, with Under 2.5 goals currently priced at 1.884* being of potential value to bettors. Alternately, if bettors choose to back Over 2.5 goals at 2.010*, they will look to the fact that Napoli have scored in their last three visits to the Allianz stadium and Juve have only failed to score twice in their last 59 home league games.
