When and how was PDSi founded?

PDSi was founded in 1989 to provide reliable depot repair service for UNIX workstations.  Engineers managing a network of UNIX workstations for The Ohio State University searched for dependable UNIX workstation repair facilities, but were unable to find this service.  The engineers decided to fill this void by creating Pinnacle Data Systems, Inc., a company dedicated to providing this service and support for UNIX workstations and peripherals.

PDSi grew in size and experience as the number of UNIX-based computer systems increased.  As the company’s ability to provide quality component level repair for a wide range of products became known, the opportunity arose in 1992 to put this board level experience to work designing and manufacturing custom printed circuit boards for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

Today, PDSi provides product lifecycle management services to global OEMs.  Over the past decade, PDSi has developed expertise in the design, manufacture and support of OEM computer solutions in mission critical industries such as telecommunications infrastructure equipment, medical devices, industrial controllers and printing and digital imaging servers.  Specializing in such high-density embedded-computing platforms, PDSi has a proven track record and the flexibility to provide solutions at each stage of the product’s lifecycle—from development to deployment to End of Life (EOL).

PDSi became a public company in 1996 and commenced trading on the American Stock Exchange in September 2000.
