System Overview

The PDSi DAT Media Carrier storage solution designed to provide the latest tape storage technology in an efficient 1U (1.75" high) form factor. It is compact enough to fit into the user's most densely-packed design.

The DAT Media Carrier supports one or two front accessible DAT drives. The drives use a SCSI interface, with the SCSI I/O signals routed through commonly-used 68-pin wide LVDS connectors on the rear panel.

Each DAT 72 drive delivers a capacity of 72 GB on a single data cartridge with a transfer rate of 21.6 GB/hr. The drive reads and writes DAT 72, DDS-3 and DDS-4 formats, making it an ideal upgrade from earlier generations of DDS.

The PDSi DAT Media Carrier is designed to meet the backup storage needs for systems used in DNS, firewalls, log processing and authentication, as well as Web hosting applications.
