System Overview
PDSi's CP2040/2140 cPSB Rear Transition Module (RTM) brings all of the functionality of the popular PICMG 2.16 Compact Packet Switched Backplane (cPSB) to Sun's powerful Netra CP2040 or CP2140 boards, improves performance, and offers a greater degree of flexibility,
scalability and reliability.
Designed in the standard cPCI 6U form factor, the high performance Netra CP2040 and CP2140 boards are powered by the UltraSPARCTM II processor. Essential features of the Netra boards include hot swap and dual Ethernet, dual SCSI for clustered solutions, two USB ports and full Solaris 8 support. The CP2040 and CP2140 boards allow communications and network equipment providers to build customized highly available carrier-grade systems.
With literally a "flip of a switch" on PDSi's CP2040/CP2140 cPSB RTM, the customer can change the functionality of the popular Netra boards from their standard cPCI functionality to cPSB, connecting the Ethernet ports to the backplane. The cPSB architecture enables the use of proven TCP/IP based Ethernet networks using an infrastructure that eliminates cabling
and embeds the switching fabric within the system at the board level.
Specifications
The unmatched versatility and flexibility of PDSi's CP2040/CP2140 cPSB RTM gives NEPs and other OEMs the ability to quickly prototype and deliver highly available/scalable hardware. Combining the CP2040/ CP2140 cPSB RTM with any of PDSi cPCI products and expert system integration, design, branding and testing services can produce a complete SKU, utilizing customer specified third party components or Commercial off-the-shelf products to greatly reduce time-tomarket.
