System Overview
PDSI's ComputeNode3U cPSB (Node3UTM cPSB) is an efficient PICMG 2.16-based carriergrade CompactPCI® (cPCI) solution developed for the embedded control and communications marketplace. This 6-slot cPCI chassis measures only 5.25" high and may be densely packed into any new design or existing rack. The Compact Packet Switched Backplane (cPSB) architecture embeds the Ethernet switching fabric within the system at the board level.

PDSI’s custom cPSB features one slot for dual 3U Ethernet switches, one system slot and four I/O slots for superior slot density, and a standard 3.5” SCSI hard drive located above the power supplies offers reliable data storage.
PDSi’s unique cPSB design utilizes a single cPCI slot for inclusion of dual fabric Layer 2 10/100Mbps Ethernet switches. Each switch has nine Ethernet ports in a fully nonblocking configuration, and four 10/100Mbps ports available on a Rear Transition Module (RTM) using RJ-45 connectors. With link and activity LEDs each port is capable of autonegotiating to determine its mode of operation. The switches are hot-swappable, and in the HA configuration operation can be maintained at all times for the most demanding applications.
PDSI's Node3U cPSB is also designed with a system alarm card for monitoring and control status. The system alarm card communicates with the system CPU through an I2C Bus Interface or an RS-232 interface. The alarm card is designed to be hot-swappable as a Field Replaceable Unit (FRU) and does not require a cPCI card slot.
Specifications
Node3U cPSB features superior air cooling and front accessible power supplies in a load sharing redundant configuration. These hotswappable power supplies are standard with dual DC feed, single AC feed or optional dual AC feed.
As with all PDSi products, Node3U cPSB combines expert Rapid Product Realization design, branding and testing services for a complete SKU utilizing customer-specified third party components or Commercial off-the-shelf products, greatly reducing time-to-market.
